The days are getting colder, shorter and darker. But that doesn't mean our energy and mental health must be. Searching for ideas on how to boost your energy? This article will mindfully lead you through insightful tips on how to beat the cold weather with a healthy approach.
Experiment with your routine, step into unknown
What if I tell you that your everyday routine shapes your future? Did this thought ever cross your mind and if so did you stop for a minute and think about the things you do unconsciously every day. From brushing your teeth the first thing after you wake up to having a cup of coffee in your favourite mug and driving to work. These are the unconscious habits that we all share but only a few are aware of. The vicious cycle of life sometimes makes us feel disconnected from our true selves. The true creative self that has visions, dreams and lives to the highest potential and purpose. Did you know that shifting your routine will not only set your mind to be more creative and step into the unknown but will also benefit your mental health? I'm not talking about radical changes as waking up and running 10k, I'm talking about small important baby steps like waking up and reaching out for your journal instead of your phone, meditating before brushing your teeth, listening to a new podcast while commuting to work. These little steps will not only open your mind to look at any challenges that might come your way with a different perspective but soon become your habits. Habits that you have consciously chosen.
Educate yourself
Treat every day as a new opportunity to learn something new. Make a promise to yourself to dedicate your free time to becoming the best version of yourself. Choose wisely where do you invest your time. Do you think you've been spending a little bit more time than you intended to on social media? Unless you're a social media creator, most of the time spent on social media is time wasted on entertainment. To be fully aware of how much time during our days is actually used unproductively/ wasted on entertainment, I highly recommend checking the Your Activity tool on your phones. Our time on earth is very precious, therefore we should spend it consciously and exchanging entertainment for knowledge might be the first step...
Learn a new skill
May this be your reminder to pick up on that skill/ interest/ activity you always wanted to try. Learning a new skill is exciting, whether it is learning how to write and be vulnerable with yourself by starting your first journal, learning how to play an instrument, trying a new class in the gym, changing to commuting to work with a bike for a month, trying that new cake recipe you always wanted to make ... not tomorrow, not next year, now is the time! By trying new things we learn new skills, and although we don't always succeed we know we have given our hundred per cent to it and if it works out it's a beautiful thing and if it doesn't it's a beautiful experience.
Re-boost your immune system
Looking for a healthy way to decrease body inflammation and improve your immune system response to recent weather changes? Hot air in the sauna affects the skin, respiratory system and reduces certain signs of physical stress. By using a sauna regularly and correctly - alternating between hot and cols - you can train your body to adapt better to sudden changes in temperature between indoors and outdoors, and not get cold so quickly. Every time you use a sauna, you're training your body's defence mechanisms. The heat inside the sauna raises your core body temperature by 1-2 degrees. This is like having an artificial fever, and all the cells in your body react accordingly. But the healthful effect of the sauna is not complete without the body cooling process which immediately follows – the complete cycle of alternating between hot and cold, in other words. Because only by using the sauna correctly and regularly can you strengthen your immune system.
Be kind - don't let the monkey mind take over
Monkey mind that's how I call all the silly/ self-doubting / ego thoughts that emerge on different occasions in the most unexpected circumstances. But there is no reason to be afraid of your monkey thoughts, instead, try to understand them and acknowledge them. Let them know that you see them but let them go afterwards, don't hold onto them. Because the more attention they receive the more likely they are to manifest in your life.
